Recovering & Reflecting: A Week of Exhaustion, Solitude, & Tradition
🌱💆♀️ Cloudy skies & fifty-something degrees today. Recovery 🌱 is slow—my body feels reluctant to fully bounce back from the exhaustion 😴 that struck Friday night. While I’ve made progress, I’m drained, running on low energy, and desperately needing a deep recharge.
Lunch was simple—McDonald’s for $5.50. Parenting ❤️ keeps me busy, & between obligations, I barely paused long enough to savor the meal.
Tomorrow
Focus shifts to an important deadline, & if all goes as planned 🤞, Kiddo is spending the night at their older sibling’s house. That means twelve hours of solitude ⏳—no requests, no responsibilities. Just me, my thoughts, & much-needed self-care 💆♀️.
Saturday morning
vet appointment for our newest cat 🐾, followed by generous support 🏡 from acquaintances tackling yard work. I’m grateful 🙏 because, honestly, the thought of tackling it alone is overwhelming. And then there’s
Sunday
Mother’s Day. Though Grandpa is gone, we’ll carry on our tradition 🌿—BLTs and planting something in the garden. Each year, we plant a new *flower or shrub🌷 for each of us at Grandpa’s house, in honor of our mother, who passed when I was very young. It’s our way of keeping her memory alive—watching life grow in her name, year after year.
Memories 💞 will flood in, guaranteed tears mixing with laughter. Reflection 🌧️ will settle over us like the forecasted rain—fitting, somehow.
A busy weekend ahead, & I can only hope I find the energy to move through it all. But no matter how exhausting 😴 it gets, gratitude 🙏 and tradition 🌿 will keep me anchored. 💖
